About

Shannon Nichols is an illustrator based in Lakeland, Florida, and primarily works in digital painting software and traditional acrylic and gouache mediums. Nichols composes illustrations, paintings, and comics to convey fictional narratives inspired by fantasy and pop culture. In her professional career, she has been contracted for individual client-based commission work for digital painting and illustration, managing an online shop selling her artwork and designing stickers, as well as editing and producing video content as a creator on YouTube and Instagram. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, with a minor in Painting, at the University of Central Florida.

Artist Statement

I create visual narratives about heroism and humor through illustrations, painting, and comic work. My characters and environments are inspired by popular culture mixed with traditional fiction and fantasy concepts and my own imagination. I invite viewers into my constructed visual environments where I express my own experiences and emotions in a tangible and comprehensive way. I develop and explore these worlds and characters as a form of escapism and comfort for both the viewer and me.
